Sam & Minnie

When we came down here a couple of years ago to help Sam and Minnie move Kathy and I got to travel through the desert southwest and we were struck by the beauty of this place.  We would see something and say "That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" and then go around the corner and say, "Oh my God that's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" and then go around the next corner and say. "OH MY GOD that's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." I kept thinking of the words relentless beauty.  That the beauty here simply refused to go unnoticed, the beauty would not be ignored. You had to stop and take it in and be amazed. Well Arizona we are back and you've done it again. As I've watched this week with this beautiful family who so obviously loves one another, and I've watched Sam and Minnie stand before you and proclaim their love and commitment to each other and to all of us, I've been struck once again by a beauty that will not be ignored - but I'm smarter now, I've learned from the desert.  I know that as I watch Sam and Minnies journey together as husband and wife, I will be amazed again and again, that Oh My God around every corner relentless beauty is waiting to be experienced, absolutely refusing to go unnoticed. Love and Beauty that will relentlessly pursue them the rest of their lives.
